I have email set up for my website but how do I get the emails at home? Once emails are configured on the server with your hosting company you need to set up the account in the software that you use at home to manage emails. There is lots of email management software but the two most common are Microsoft Outlook Express or Microsoft Outlook. Below is a guide to setting up your email account with one of these programs.

1. Assuming that outlook is open go to "Tools" and click on "Account Settings..."

2. Click on "New.." and a box will open. Make sure that the button for "Microsoft Exchange,POP3,IMAP or HTTP is selected.

3. Click "Next" and enter the name that you wish to appear at the top of your emails, then the actual email address and then type and retype (or cut and paste) the password as supplied to you by your hosting company or Internet Service Provider.

4. Click "Next". The computer will search for a connection.

You may receive a message " An encrypted connection to your email server is not available. Click Next to attempt using an unencrypted connection." Do exactly that, click "next" and the computer will search again.

That should install the account into your Outlook.

If there are any connection problems, click on the box to manually configure the account and click "next". Check that the information is correct. It should have: (Below is an example of one of my accounts)

Once you are happy with the above.

Click on "Remember Password". Don't click on "Require logon using SPA"

Click on " Test account setting" ...this time it should work.

Click on "Next" and "Finish".
